Nakatomi is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our team. We’re looking for someone keen to break into the startup world and operate across a diverse portfolio of work.

Details

As a Project Coordinator, you are the glue between our ventures, team and partners.

  • You’ll be responsible for designing project schedules and organising internal and external resources. You’ll be the key contact for our founders, creative strategists, designers and developers.
  • Your mission will be to drive development and ensure we are delivering our client’s objectives as well as our own - maintaining the level of craft and service that we pride ourselves on.
  • The role is very collaborative - the team will look to you for all the information and support they need to execute their work.
  • This role is located in Paddington, Sydney. We occasionally work remotely, but the nature of our work is incredibly collaborative and better suited to in-person.

The Role

You will help create and build numerous new startups from inception to launch. Working closely with the Founding Partners, Head of Operations and Head of Venture Development, you will coordinate timelines, resources, and communications to ensure high-quality delivery across diverse initiatives, from emerging tech prototypes to large-scale client engagements. You’ll be instrumental in keeping projects organised, aligned, and moving forward in a fast-paced, creative environment.

During this time, you will:

  • Successfully coordinate and deliver projects on time and within scope, balancing internal and client needs.
  • Implement and maintain effective project tracking tools and reporting templates to improve team visibility and accountability.
  • Support seamless collaboration between cross-functional teams, including design, development, operations, and client stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve potential risks or blockers early, escalating where necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Contribute to process improvements that increase operational efficiency and knowledge-sharing across the studio.
  • Assist the Founding Partners to drive impact and efficiency across the business.

Experience & Mindsets Required

  • 2-3 years of experience in project coordination, operations, or a similar role.
  • You’re driven by solving hard and ambiguous problems and excel at distilling and communicating solutions clearly to clients and collaborators.
  • You must have a skill or expertise in a field that has a practical application.
  • You’re dedicated and take ownership of the improvement and execution of your craft.
  • Proficient with tools such as Slack, Notion and Figma.
  • Able to pickup new tools and skills rapidly.
  • Implementation of tracking and reporting systems for visibility, leveraging AI where possible.
  • We don’t require any specific tertiary education but prefer Business, Science and Engineering degrees.
  • You see your future in startups — building, scaling, and creating new ventures.

What can Nakatomi offer you?

  • Nakatomi is a place that fosters intellectual curiosity. We love helping people solve problems and reach their goals. This includes our clients and you.
  • Our culture celebrates making, enthusiasm, imagination and empathy. We support each other and help each other achieve our goals.
  • As all of our solutions are unique, no day is ever the same. We offer opportunities across all business areas and encourage you to try new things.
  • You’ll learn new things (All interesting but not all useful. Always fun) at our regular Friday spotlight sessions. We like to do regular random activities together each month.
